Venezuelan Stefania Fernandez won the 2009 Miss Universe pageant in the Bahamas on Sunday night.

Dressed in a flowing red gown, Fernandez embraced runner up Miss Dominican Republic as the announcement was made, and received the crown from last year’s winner, Dayana Mendoza, of Venezuela. The sparkling tiara fell to the floor at one point, as Fernandez danced in joy.

Venezuela, a beauty-obsessed South American country, has won the Miss Universe pageant six times.

The Bb Pilipinas 2009 Beauty Pagent has finally over. The 24 candidates that compete in three major titles which are The Bb Pilipinas – International, The Bb Pilipinas – World, and The Bb Pilipinas – Universe has reached its final three winners who will represent the Philippines to this year’s Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International beauty competitions.

The Coronation Night which was held at the Araneta Coliseum and was aired live on GMA-7 last night that started at 9:30PM and hosted by Paolo Bediones and Iza Calzado.

• Marie Ann Umali – Bb. Pilipinas – World (Also :Miss Photogenic and Best in Long Gown)

• Richell Angalot Asuncion – 1st runner up (Also: Best in Talent)

• Regina Hahn – 2nd runner up.

• Gizelle Jasmin Rivamonte – Miss Friendship
